Crane Lake is the Southern entry to the Voyageurs National Park and the Western Entry to the BWCAW.
With over 80,000 acres of water, Voyageurs National Park is a boater's paradise. This is a unique park. With less than 10 miles of roads, visitors must leave their cars behind for a motorboat, canoe, houseboat, kayak or sailboat.

From Crane Lake, MN you can travel by boat to Ash River, Kabetogama, Kettle Falls, Ontario Canada and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. A person can take a canoe from Crane Lake and explore the chain of lakes to Lac La Croix on to Ely, MN or take a boat to Sand Point Lake, Namakan and on to Kettle Falls with a portage to Rainy Lake.
