Crane Lake

 Crane Lake is the southern entry to the Voyageurs National Park and the Western entry to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Ontario Canada is the other side of the lake when you are on Sand Point, Namakan, Loon and Lac La Croix. Crane Lake is a resort community that is busy in the summer with people enjoying the area lakes and wilderness areas. In the winter you will see snowmobiles on the area trails. Crane Lake has several restaurants,  resorts, post office, gift shops, marinas and public landings.

Hiking Trails

Crane Lake has serval hiking trails in the area that can be used in the summer or winter. The Gorge is accessible by boat or land and is trail. Interpretive signs describe the logging era of the early 1900’s, the Lake Vermilion Gold Rush in the 1920’s, and two centuries of fur trade along the Voyageurs Highway. Crane Lake was part of the 3,000 mile waterway connecting Montreal to Lake Athabasca.

Vermilion Falls 

The Vermilion Falls trail is just down the road from 7490 Bayside Drive Crane Lake. It is a short hike to the beautiful falls.

Fishing from your cabin on Crane Lake

Crane Lake is known for its fishing. The MN DNR report shows Crane Lake has a wide variety of fish.
